Memo Reflection
When I wrote the proposal to Dr. Boudreau, I felt a strong sense of urgency to address the issue of overcrowded math classes. This urgency stemmed from my own experiences struggling in large class settings and witnessing others facing similar challenges. I wanted to advocate for change that could positively impact the learning experiences of myself and fellow students. The purpose of my proposal was clear: to persuade Dr. Boudreau to consider the benefits of reducing math class sizes at City College. I hoped to convey the idea that smaller classes could lead to better engagement, improved comprehension, and a more supportive learning environment. By highlighting research findings and proposing a feasible solution, I aimed to make a compelling case for change. In terms of audience, Dr. Boudreau was my primary target, but I also considered the broader college community. I knew that faculty, staff, and students alike could benefit from smaller class sizes, so I wanted to present my proposal in a way that resonated with diverse perspectives. The context of my writing was important to consider. As a student addressing the college president, I needed to strike a balance between formality and persuasiveness. My rhetorical situation involved navigating power dynamics while advocating for change in a respectful and constructive manner.Reflecting on my writing process, I recognize areas where I could have strengthened my proposal. For instance, I could have provided more specific examples of how overcrowded classes hinder student learning and success. Additionally, I could have explored alternative solutions or addressed potential challenges to implementing smaller class sizes. Overall, this assignment challenged me to think critically about educational issues and to communicate my ideas effectively. It pushed me to consider the needs of diverse stakeholders and to advocate for change that can have a meaningful impact on student experiences. Through this process, I’ve developed valuable skills in persuasive writing and problem-solving, which I can apply in future endeavors.
Technical Analysis Reflection
Immersing myself in the technical intricacies of the HydraPeak Water 20 oz Bottle was a nice journey and a good topic to write about. . I spoke about design and functionality, history, innovation, and personal habits. The decision to write about water bottles was deliberate, driven by their simple and overlooked importance in daily life. When I looked at the technical description, I was struck by the evolution of water containers across civilizations, from rudimentary animal skins to the stainless steel water bottle of today. Examining the features of the HydraPeak Water 20 oz Bottle revealed both its strengths and areas for growth. The engineering of its screw-on cap, handle, and durable stainless steel body was commendable. This also made me think about the need for more sustainable options in the future. This exploration also made me reflect on my own habits. While I knew staying hydrated was important, I hadn’t thought much about the impact of my choices. Now, I’m more aware and committed to making eco-friendly decisions.ter bottles play in supporting not just individual well-being but also environmental health. I think I did well in making the topic of water bottles easy to understand and engaging for readers. My personal reflections were woven into the discussion smoothly, encouraging readers to think about their own habits. In conclusion, I summarized the main points effectively. However, I realize I could have gone into more detail with specific examples to enrich the discussion. Improving the balance between simplicity and depth, and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas, are areas where I can work on for next time.In summary, delving into the HydraPeak Water 20 oz Bottle’s details was eye-opening. It made me see water bottles as more than just containers—they’re tools for well-being and sustainability. And with this new perspective, I’m ready to make better choices for myself and the environment.
Group Project Reflection
It has been quite enlightening during these last weeks, where I learnt a lot from others and gained other ways of doing writings, analyzing things and getting fresh ideas to employ into my projects. This work was very useful to me as well as our team. We developed many concepts on how we can assist our societies in addition to how the community benefits out of them.
One of the greatest ideas that we had was the flood fix project. We named this project FXV1
This project entails helping with flooding that occurs in subways. Below is an enumeration of some things this project can do for the community:
- prevent station flooding
- cut down delay times on trains
- reduce expenditure in fixing railroad tracks
The exigence of our project is the time frame we had, which was 4 to 5 months. Doing this project helps not only the commuters but the workers and police and firefighters because they won’t have to deal with constant flooding of the train and have more time to deal with real fires or crime. Doing this project also helps with the constant delays we face on the train. There are times throughout the year where underground trains flood completely, people can’t even go down the stairs. The sumps do not begin to drain until the water rises to a certain level. So this means that when they are activated, more and less water gets into it. If the subway station pumps were faster and newer there would be no floods caused by heavy rains.
Moreover, that water is unclean and can lead to a wide range of health problems. This is why this project is very beneficial to the community. Contaminated water in the train and poor sanitation can transmit a number of diseases such as cholera and hepatitis. The purpose of our project was to offer an easier service for all New Yorkers anytime these flooding
occur. Additionally, it saves cost from repairing train tracks after water falls on them. Another aim for doing this project also aids in minimizing area damage, thus saving government’s tax money.
The audience of this project would be the government or more realistically the mayor and state officials that can help make the city better and safer for us all. This project will be of great assistance to train delays and drop them by a lot. It was amazing for me and my friends to go through this project where we learnt a lot from one another, as well as receiving fresh information.
